Going through Shombit’s books gives you a feeling of discomfort. Through his Jalebi Management and Strategic Pokes I’ve learned more about India than I’ve learnt since I’ve been working here 3 years from 2011.

Both books deliver a great experience and deeper knowledge about India. Their immense value is in providing a full picture of Indian society. It is not only a book on management but on experience in terms of societal aspects, the economy, culture and politics.

A comparison with Europe was very important for me as I come from Europe. The books helped me avoid mistakes of not bringing what works in Europe to India. From the books I got insights on customer expectation, customer experience and customer aspiration. The difference among generations is more significant here than in Europe. The books analyse very well how the ZAP generation influences parents. That’s extremely useful for any manager in any kind of company.

I would say Jalebi Management provides a wider perspective whereas Strategic Pokes analyses some key aspects, pokes and challenges you have within Indian society,. Strategic pokes really analyzes and helps management to face the challenges in different areas and take decisions thereafter.
